Brigitte Keener, O.D.

Dr. Brigitte Keener, an optometrist with Eye Doctors of Washington, provides vision care for patients at our 16^th Street and 19^th Street offices.  Prior to joining Eye Doctors of Washington, Dr. Keener dedicated a decade to the ophthalmology department at Mayo Clinic in Florida. Her tenure involved treating a wide range of ocular conditions in medically complex and routine cases. Known for her exceptional patient care, Dr. Keener received numerous awards for patient experience. Her expertise encompasses managing glaucoma and cataracts, including surgical co-management, conducting diabetic eye exams, detection of macular degeneration and implementation of the latest protocols to detect ocular toxicity from systemic medications. She is also adept at providing relief for dry eyes and ocular surface diseases and is skilled in contact lens fitting.

As an alumnus of the University of Michigan, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Brain, Behavior, and Cognitive Science. She furthered her education at the Southern College of Optometry, earning her Doctorate in Optometry. Her academic excellence was recognized through her induction into the Beta Sigma Kappa honor society and her presidency of the Gold Key International Honor Society. She further honed her skills with a residency in Ocular Disease at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute.

A fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and a member of the American Optometric Association, Dr. Keener balances her professional life with a deep love for her family, including her spouse and two children. She is an avid traveler and actively engages in her community through volunteer work and a keen interest in the arts.
